Planning begins for NEW SCHOOL ZONES
Tuesday, July 12th, 2011

When Coulter Grove Intermediate School opens next year (July 2012), zoning will be required to accommodate the new 4-7 grade configuration, along with some adjustments needed in our elementary zones. As requested by parents in sessions last spring, the School Board will take up the topic of school rezoning at the earliest possible date, which will be during a board worksession at 5:00 PM on July 12, 2011.  Board worksessions are public meetings.

PLAN REVIEW OPPORTUNITIES:

 A.  Maps based on the original proposal will be available for review starting July 18, 2011 on the district website, at Maryville Intermediate School, and at all Elementary Schools.

INPUT OPPORTUNITIES:

A.  Those who review the proposal and wish to have their comments or concerns reviewed by the board may do so on the district website at http://www.maryvillecityschools.k12.tn.us/education/components/scrapbook/default.php?sectionid=1 or by stopping by the MCS Central Office (833 Lawrence Avenue).

B.  A public input session will be held at Maryville High School on August 15, 2011, starting at 6:00 PM.

At this time, the Board agenda for September 12, 2011 is scheduled to include a vote on new school zones, with an effective date of July 2012.

Questions regarding this process should be directed to Dr. Mike Winstead at 865.982.7121.
